Development

We develop it, we own it, and we run it.

Most behind-the-meter offers stop at the sale of equipment. Melastone carries the project from site identification through operation, and holds the operating risk that the host would otherwise be asked to take on.

How a project moves

01

Screen

Twelve months of interval data against the tariff. The output is a view of what the site’s flexibility is worth, before anyone commits.

02

Structure

Site control, interconnection, permitting, and the agreement that governs how the asset sits on the property.

03

Build

Construction and commissioning with licensed electrical contractors, to the utility’s approved-equipment requirements.

04

Operate

Dispatch runs on the Melastone Controller at the site. Monitoring, maintenance and warranty sit with us.

05

Monetize

We hold the aggregator relationship and run a competitive process for it, so the site is not tied to whichever aggregator arrived first.

06

Report

Every dispatch produces a verified record of what was delivered and what it earned — at the site and across the portfolio.

For capital partners

What the control layer does to exit value.

An asset that speaks open protocols is worth more at exit than one locked to a proprietary stack, because the buyer can operate it with anyone. The dispatch record travels with the asset rather than with the vendor.

Every dispatch produces a verified record of what distributed capacity delivered and what it earned. Across a fleet, that record becomes a price signal this market does not yet have.

  • Owned control layer, not a licensed third-party platform
  • Retrofit onto existing building stock rather than new construction
  • Operating history that transfers with the asset
  • One counterparty from site walk through operation
Interoperability

The asset stays the owner’s, and stays worth something.

No lock-in for the host

The property is not tied to our hardware, or to us. Open protocols mean the owner can operate the asset with anyone.

Any asset, any vintage

Batteries, chargers, solar, HVAC, refrigeration — including equipment already on site. Retrofit rather than rip-and-replace, which makes the market the existing building stock rather than new construction.

Portable across markets and manufacturers

Speaking IEEE 2030.5 and CSIP, OpenADR, OCPP, Modbus, BACnet and SunSpec natively means a new device type or a new market does not require a new integration project.

We take your flexibility to market on your behalf

We hold the aggregator relationship and run a competitive process for it, so a site is not locked to whichever aggregator arrived first. Today the aggregator picks the host; the host rarely knows what its flexibility is worth.
